Nature Explorers was created for families who want learning to feel meaningful — not rushed, forced, or disconnected.
We believe children learn best when they are engaged with the world around them, trusted in their curiosity, and guided with intention.
Through outdoor exploration and hands-on learning, we create an environment where children grow in confidence, understanding, and ownership of their education.
Nature Explorers Co-Op Model
At Nature Explorers, our co-op model is designed to create a family-style learning environment where younger and older students can learn alongside one another while still engaging in age-appropriate experiences and challenges.
Our program currently operates through two connected class groups that overlap throughout portions of the day to encourage community, leadership, and collaborative learning.
Nature’s Nest (Ages K4–3rd Grade)
Nature’s Nest is our early childhood and elementary program focused on curiosity, exploration, movement, and hands-on discovery. Younger learners engage through:

Simple science and STEAM activities

Process art and open-ended creativity

Outdoor exploration and observation

Foundational social and leadership skills
This group focuses heavily on wonder, engagement, and building a love for learning through meaningful experiences in nature.
Nature Explorers (4th–8th Grade)
Nature Explorers is our upper elementary and middle school program designed to deepen critical thinking, project-based learning, and real-world application. Older students participate in:

Nature studies and research projects

Team collaboration and leadership opportunities

Outdoor survival and exploration skills

Hands-on experiments and engineering activities

Presentations, discussion, and creative problem-solving
This group encourages students to take greater ownership of their learning while developing confidence, communication, and leadership skills.
How The Programs Overlap
Throughout the co-op day, both groups come together during select activities such as:

Leadership opportunities where older students assist younger learners
This overlapping model creates a welcoming multi-age community where children can build friendships, grow in confidence, and learn from one another naturally — much like a family learning environment.

Our upcoming online community through Skool, will give families a place to connect, share local nature discoveries, and continue learning together through videos, activities, discussions, and hands-on nature content designed to bring the Nature Explorers experience to life beyond our local groups and field trips.
